Description:
The University of British Columbia Division of Plastic Surgery offers a 6 or 12 month Reconstructive Plastic Surgery Fellowship, based at the Kelowna General Hospital.
The overarching goal of this Fellowship is to gain experience in basic to complex reconstructive plastic surgery to facilitate delivery of this specialized care at an independent consultant level.
The Fellowship includes both microsurgical and non-microsurgical primary and secondary reconstructive
procedures, with a large volume of:
- Breast Surgery - elective, implant-based and free tissue transfer reconstruction.
- Head and Neck Surgery- oncologic (primary and secondary), elective and traumatic.
- Other traumatic and oncologic reconstruction – trunk and extremities.
The Fellowship also comprises of a fulsome exposure to elective and traumatic surgery of the hand and wrist.
This is a very “hands on” fellowship and includes a substantive opportunity for supported independent operating and clinic experience. Call is 1/5.

Requirements:
Financial support for this fellowship requires that the applicant be eligible for full licensure in British Columbia.
• Successful completion of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada examinations in Plastic Surgery.
• Successful completion of the IELTS exam if language of instruction and practice during medical school and residency was not in English. A passing grade must be obtained prior to submission of the fellowship application.
